Rewarding Painting And Decorating Students In Honour Of Carl Richardson
April 23rd, 2024
What better way to celebrate life than
passing forward kindness. Brewers were honoured to be able to support this sentiment
with the donation of a £250 voucher to East Kent College in memory of painter
and decorator, Carl Richardson.
Carl lost his life in 2018 and his
sister, Stephanie, has been fundraising ever since. Carl attended East Kent
College’s painting and decorating course before starting his career, working
for PDC Painting & Decorating Ltd whose owner, Phil, spoke very highly of
Carl as a decorator and a lovely human being.
Stephanie is exceptionally passionate
about fundraising, so when she approached Brewers to find a way to support
current East Kent College students, Area Development Manager, Shayne McCosh,
agreed to support her as best we could. Stephanie has since raised £1,340 for
the college, giving £500 in Brewers vouchers to several of the best performing
decorating students and the rest to the college for Mirka equipment.
Stephanie
said: “The money raised has gone to students that show exceptional skill,
determination, effort and competency as selected by their tutor. The money has
been received in way of a Brewers voucher to help set them up with the tools,
equipment and so forth that they may need to get into the industry that they
have studied for. People need opportunities and they need to be recognised, I
hope this may do this. Carl loved his job, he was a perfectionist, he was
hard working, and it was what he was good at. He didn’t enjoy school or
academics but thrived in the painting and decorating world. He liked working
with others who also took pride in their work. I hope there are some ready for
a new term at college to whom, in Carl’s legacy, can benefit from these
vouchers and begin a career to which they will thrive and enjoy.”
We
love being able to support painters and decorators of the future and it’s great
to see how Carl’s memory is being kept alive through his sister’s kindness.
