Kicking Off Success! Brewers Poole Teams Up with Wessex Elite Taekwondo

Brewers Poole were thrilled to be able to donate 300L of Albany Paint to Wessex Elite Taekwondo CIC. They have converted an unloved space into a brand-new facility that consists of a strength and conditioning gym, matted taekwondo area, a community café for parents and carers to sit together and socialise whilst watching their children train, 4 x treatment rooms that will be used by a Sports Therapist, Nutritionist and Health and Wellbeing Co-Ordinators.

Wessex Taekwondo CIC are based in Parkstone which is an area of high deprivation. The organisation is on a mission to help families with the costs associated with taekwondo training and competing. 

Their head coach has been teaching taekwondo for over 30 years and has always maintained the ethos that ‘no child will not achieve their potential purely because of cost’ and has subsidised many students over the years from his own funds. It was with this ethos in mind that helped to set up a Community Interest Company (CIC) last year with the hope that funding could be secured to help more children benefit from being part of a sport.

The permanent base for the club received a £10,000 grant from The National Lottery, but more support was needed to create a suitable environment for a full community sport and wellbeing centre. This is where Luke from Brewers Poole was more than happy to step in with some free paint!

The finished result looks incredible, and we cannot wait to see the space being put to good use officially!
